The ATM Lab at the University of Pretoria
نویسندگان
چکیده
The University of Pretoria’s ATM Lab provides opportunities to investigate and acquire hands-on experience in ATM related technologies and prepares postgraduate students for roles within a high speed networking environment. The ATM Lab will become a more integral part of “high speed network” related research and will also be included in the formal network curriculum. The learning experience not only prepares postgraduate students to work with new multi-vendor technologies with competence and confidence, but also to adapt to a working environment much affected by these technologies. This paper discusses the following practical ATM studies at the University of Pretoria’s ATM Lab: • Participation at the Telkom ‘95 exhibition • Interoperability issues between ATM switches from different vendors • Migration to an ATM LAN environment, and • Future ATM Pilot Network projects.

متن کاملMusculoskeletal and other performance related disorders in South African undergraduate music students
Background: Performance related musculoskeletal and associated health issues are prominent amongst musicians. The aim of this study was to explore self-reported musculoskeletal and related health issues in undergraduate music students. A further goal was to ascertain how these problems impact students’ learning and playing their instruments. Materials and Methods: A longitudinal mixed me...
متن کاملATM induces radioresistance of non-small cell lung cancer A549 cells by downregulation of MDMX
Background: Tumor radioresistance leads to a reduction in the efficiency of radiation therapy. It is very important to explore the cellular mechanisms leading to radioresistance and to find potential therapeutic targets, which might improve the efficacy of radiation therapy. This study was to investigate the role of ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM) and murine double minute X (MDMX) in radior...
متن کاملDetermination of lignin-modifying enzymes (LMEs) in Hyphodermella species using biochemical and molecular techniques
White-rot basidiomycetes are one of the most important lignolytic microorganisms. These fungi have been reported to secrete three main classes of lignin degrading enzymes: lignin peroxidases (LiPs), manganese peroxidases (MnPs) and laccases. In this study, for the first time the lignin degrading capability of two plant pathogens i.e. Hyphodermella rosae and H. corrugata was evaluated using both...
متن کاملEvaluation of Advanced Gravity and Magnetic Concentration of a PGM Tailings Waste for Chromite Recovery
This research was aimed at evaluating the efficiency of advanced gravity and magnetic separations on the recovery of chromite from the fine Platinum Group Metals (PGM) tailings consisting of particles 80% passing 75 µm with about 45% being >45 µm resulting in high chromite losses. The PGM plant tailings were subjected to X-ray fluorescence, scanning electron microscopy and particle size dis...
